About Noa
Meet Your Therapist
Dr. Lindsay Iuen is an award winning, board certified Physical Therapist and Pilates Instructor in Lakeway, Texas. She began her Pilates career in New York City in 2010 teaching mat and reformer classes and completed a 488 hour comprehensive Pilates certification with Balanced Body in 2015. That same year, she tore her ACL on a ski trip and underwent surgery and Physical Therapy. After going through the rehabilitation process, she was inspired to study Physical Therapy and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Texas State University in 2021. While in school, she was part of a team of students who opened and operated a volunteer Pro Bono clinic for uninsured patients. Her dedication to this clinic earned her the Outstanding Student in Community Service Award in 2020, the Award for Excellence in Physical Therapy in 2021, and the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award for the College of Health Professions in 2021. After graduation, Lindsay worked in the inpatient rehabilitation setting focusing primarily on neurologic and orthopedic disorders. She was awarded the Baylor Scott and White IMPACT Health award in 2022 for excellence in patient care. After five years working in the hospital setting, Lindsay created Noa Pilates and Wellness as an alternative to the high volume studio/clinic model. Her goal is to offer clients an elevated experience in a warm environment to create lasting change.

Your Questions, Answered
-
While both focus on improving movement, strength, and overall function, Pilates and Physical Therapy serve different primary purposes.
Physical Therapy is a medical service and is focused on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating pain, injury, or dysfunction. Sessions are designed to relieve symptoms, restore mobility, and address the root cause of issues such as injury, surgery, or chronic pain.
Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasizes core strength, flexibility, posture, and controlled movement. It is often used for general fitness, injury prevention, and building long-term strength and body awareness.

Physical Therapy is a specialized medical service requiring advanced education, clinical expertise, and individualized care. Each session includes a thorough assessment, clinical decision-making, and treatment designed to address the root cause of dysfunction, not just the symptoms.
In addition to hands-on care and targeted exercise, Physical Therapy also involves detailed documentation of your evaluation, progress, and treatment plan, as well as a customized home exercise program to support your progress between sessions. When needed, your therapist may also coordinate with other medical providers to support a comprehensive and collaborative approach to your health.
